Amarinder Singh resigned as Punjab Chief Minister today, few months before polls. I was “humiliated thrice” in two months and the Congress is free to “appoint whoever they trust”. He also said he would “exercise his options when the time comes”.
BJP and AAP wasted no time to criticize Congress for “betraying” people of Punjab. BJP’s Tarun Chugh said Singh’s resignation is a “panic reaction” of the Congress brass to salvage the party’s situation. AAP MLA Harpal Singh Cheema said the Congress infighting has done a lot of damage to Punjab and its people. BJP and AAP both claimed to win next Punjab elections and form the Government there.
